Cornholes

Cornhole is a popular outdoor game that is enjoyed by people of all ages. It involves tossing bean bags onto a raised platform with a hole in the center. While you can purchase pre-made cornhole boards, building your own custom boards can be a fun and rewarding project. In this article, we will discuss how to build custom cornhole boards using oak, maple, walnut, and mahogany wood. Materials Needed: - 2 pieces of 2’x4’ plywood - 4 pieces of 1”x4” oak, maple, walnut, or mahogany wood - 4 pieces of 1”x4” pine wood - Wood glue - Wood screws - Wood filler - Sandpaper - Paint or stain - Polyurethane Step 1: Cut the Plywood Begin by cutting the plywood into two 2’x4’ pieces. These will be the top and bottom of the cornhole boards. Step 2: Cut the Wood Next, cut the oak, maple, walnut, or mahogany wood into four 48” pieces. These will be the sides of the cornhole boards. Cut the pine wood into four 21” pieces. These will be the legs of the cornhole boards. Step 3: Assemble the Frame Using wood glue and wood screws, assemble the frame of the cornhole boards. Place the plywood on a flat surface and attach the oak, maple, walnut, or mahogany wood to the edges of the plywood. Then, attach the pine wood legs to the bottom of the frame. Step 4: Sand and Fill Once the frame is assembled, sand the entire surface of the cornhole boards with sandpaper. Fill any gaps or holes with wood filler and sand again until the surface is smooth. Step 5: Paint or Stain Paint or stain the cornhole boards to your desired color. Allow the paint or stain to dry completely before moving on to the next step. Step 6: Apply Polyurethane Apply a coat of polyurethane to the surface of the cornhole boards to protect the paint or stain and provide a smooth playing surface. Allow the polyurethane to dry completely before using the cornhole boards. In conclusion, building custom cornhole boards using oak, maple, walnut, and mahogany wood can be a fun and rewarding project. With a few basic materials and some woodworking skills, you can create a set of cornhole boards that are both functional and beautiful. Whether you’re playing with friends and family or competing in a tournament, your custom cornhole boards are sure to be a hit.
